SUMMARY:Bryan Symphony Orchestra Concert
DESCRIPTION:https://www.bryansymphony.org/event-details/bryan-symphony-orchestra-concert-2\nJoin us for our second concert of our 62nd subscription season on Sunday\, November 16 at 3 PM in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts Building\, featuring Jeffery Whaley and the TTU Horn Studio.\nJeffery Whaley – horn soloist\nSince 2011\, Jeffery Whaley has held the Principal Horn chair of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra\, Asheville Symphony Orchestra\, and Symphony of the Mountains. He is also often seen performing with the Atlanta\, Detroit\, Nashville\, and Cincinnati Symphonies and as Principal Horn of Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Dominicana. Jeffery began his studies at Tennessee Tech University with Prof. Arthur LaBar and later at Wichita State University with Dr. Nicholas Smith. While in the Great Plains\, Jeffery held positions in the Wichita Symphony\, Wichita Grand Opera\, Omaha Symphony\, and Wichita Brass Quintet.\nIn a collaboration with pianist Dr. Chih-Long Hu and oboist Dr. Aryn Sweeney\, Jeffery recorded the album “Trifecta Trio Plays Koetsier\, Niederberger\, Danner\, and Bowen” on Blue Griffin Records. He can also be heard on recordings of the Dallas Wind Symphony and various studio recordings including tv series\, motion picture\, amusement park\, and video game soundtracks.\nOriginally from Sevierville\, TN\, Jeffery now resides in Knoxville with Bernice\, his personable ragdoll cat. When not playing horn\, you’ll likely find him teaching his private horn students\, lounging on the closest beach\, or wandering in the lush East Tennessee forests foraging for wild mushrooms.\nDr. Justin StanleyJustin Stanley is principal horn with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra\, hornist in both the Brass Arts Quintet and Cumberland Quintet\, and has been teaching at Tennessee Tech since Fall 2023. He has quickly become an in-demand player in our region\, working for the Asheville Symphony\, Chattanooga Symphony and Opera\, Knoxville Symphony\, Symphony of the Mountains\, and Huntsville Symphony. Dr. Stanley came to Cookeville from the University of Oregon\, where he received his Doctor of Music Arts degree.
