Sawmill Poetry at Plenty

Sawmill Poetry Series occurs on the first Monday of every month, and includes a reading by a featured Southern poet, followed by an open mic, with time to meet the visiting poet and get a signed copy of their book at the end. Our host, Erin Hoover is an author herself and a professor at Tennessee Tech University. We are so thankful for all the work she does to coordinate our poets’ visits, and promote literacy and poetry in our community.

This month’s featured reader is Didi Jackson, author of My Infinity (Red Hen Press, 2024). Reading begins at 7:00 p.m.

‘Local writers who wish to share their work in the open mic are invited to arrive by 6:45 p.m. to sign up for a five-minute open mic slot. Written poetry, performance poetry, song lyrics, flash fiction, and micro-essay readings are all welcome.

Tickets are not required for this event, nor is there a cover charge. We do love and encourage you supporting our visiting poets through the purchase of their books, if you so choose! And the bookshop will be open for general shopping at the close of the event, as well.
