“At its heart, Mustard Seed Ranch exists to provide a safe, Christ-centered home where children can heal and grow,” said Elizabeth Lisic. “Many of the children who come to us have experienced significant trauma or instability, and what they need most is not another temporary solution, but a place where they feel safe, known, and loved.”
What sets Mustard Seed Ranch apart is its commitment to consistency through a family-based model. Children do not move through shifts of caregivers. They live in real homes, surrounded by the same steady presence every day.
“Children live in real homes with full-time houseparent couples who share daily life with them,” Lisic explained. “There is consistency, routine, and presence. We believe healing happens through steady, loving relationships, not rotating staff or shift-based care.”
Meals are shared. Bedtime routines are honored. Conversations happen at the kitchen table. It is in these ordinary, repeated moments that something extraordinary begins to take shape.
“Restoration does not happen in one big moment,” she said. “It happens in a thousand small ones. It is the power of consistency, grace, and love that keeps showing up.”
Every part of life at the Ranch is guided by a simple but powerful framework: Rooted, Restored, Renewed.
The work begins with identity. Children are reminded daily that they are valued, loved, and created with purpose. Through trauma-informed care, licensed counseling, and spiritual discipleship, healing becomes a process rather than a moment.
“Through these repeated truths, children begin to internalize a new story about who they are, their worth, and the kind of life they can grow into,” Lisic shared.
Support extends beyond emotional healing. Educational partnerships, tutoring, and advocacy help rebuild confidence in the classroom, while hands-on experiences like caring for animals and working with horses create opportunities for responsibility, connection, and growth.
Together, these elements care for the whole child. Not just where they have been, but where they are going.

One young girl arrived at the Ranch unable to sleep through the night. Darkness felt unsafe. Silence felt overwhelming.
Her houseparents met her where she was.
They sat with her. They kept the lights on. They reminded her, again and again, that she was safe.
Over time, something began to shift.
She started sleeping through the night. She found her voice. Confidence replaced fear in small but meaningful ways.
Recently, she asked if she could lead the breakfast prayer.
“It was just a few simple words,” Lisic said, “but for those who know her story, it was a powerful moment.”

Mustard Seed Ranch does not operate alone. Its impact is strengthened by a community that chooses to be involved.

From mentoring relationships to donated meals, from tutoring to shared experiences like visits with the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles football team, these connections help expand what children believe is possible for their future.
Because the Ranch does not receive state or federal funding, this community support is not just meaningful. It is essential.
“We are sustained entirely by the generosity of individuals, businesses, churches, and foundations who believe in this mission,” Lisic shared.
As Mustard Seed Ranch continues to grow, the focus remains clear: expand with intention while protecting the heart of what makes it work.
With the recent opening of two new homes, the Ranch has doubled its capacity to serve children. But growth is not just about numbers.
“Growth is important, but what matters most is doing it well and caring for each home with intention,” she explained.
Looking ahead, the organization is also developing an agricultural component, inviting children into the rhythms of caring for land and animals. It is another layer of hands-on learning that builds confidence, patience, and a sense of purpose.

“More than anything, Mustard Seed Ranch is a place to belong,” Lisic said. “It is a place where children are given the time, space, and support they need to heal and look ahead with hope for the future.”
