Nearly Two Decades of Custom Apparel and Community at Select Designs

For nearly two decades, Select Designs has remained woven into the fabric of the Upper Cumberland, not simply through custom apparel and products, but through the relationships built along the way. From school spirit wear and local fundraisers to community events and small business partnerships, the Cookeville-based business has become known for helping people celebrate meaningful moments in a personal way.

Now under the ownership of Kori Edgington for the last six years, Select Designs continues to carry forward the customer-first legacy established by previous owners Angie Edgington and Kim Wise while embracing a new chapter of growth and community involvement.

“I think our growth can be attributed to the relationships we’ve built and continue to build by celebrating and supporting our schools, other local businesses and community events,” Edgington shared. “Our most important work is giving back and helping people bring their ideas to life in a meaningful way.”

That sense of community has long been at the heart of Select Designs. Angie’s years as a school teacher and Kim’s work founding a nonprofit sports organization for children with disabilities helped establish deep roots throughout the region. Today, Edgington continues that legacy through partnerships with organizations like Food to the Rescue, Park View Elementary, local children’s theater programs, and area sports teams.

“Giving back and supporting Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland will always be at the heart of who we are as a local business,” she said. “It will always be about people helping people for us.”

CARRYING THE LEGACY FORWARD

Edgington’s connection to Select Designs began long before ownership. After being offered the opportunity to work alongside the former owners, she quickly fell in love with both the business and the people behind it.

“I always joked that when they were ready to sell, they had better call me first,” she said. “When that day came, we knew it was an opportunity we shouldn’t and couldn’t pass up.”

As ownership transitioned, maintaining the company’s reputation for customer service and community dedication became a priority.

“Those were two non-negotiables,” Edgington explained. “We wanted to continue the high-quality customer service and production services while also catering to the growing needs we were seeing.”

MORE THAN JUST BUSINESS

For Edgington, some of the most meaningful moments over the last five years have come during times when Select Designs could step up for the community. One especially defining moment came following the Cookeville tornado, when the business helped organize fundraising efforts for victims and their families.

“That will always stick with me as one of those defining moments of what I wanted Select Designs to be, a true community partner,” she said.

Today, Select Designs continues looking toward the future with hopes of eventually bringing its screen printing, embroidery, retail, and office operations together under one roof. But no matter how much the business grows, the mission remains the same.

“After 19 years in business, Select Designs continues to celebrate YOUR meaningful moments while providing quality custom apparel and customer service to Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland.”
